A Weekend Well Spent

I’d like to wish everyone a Happy Veteran’s Day and give my thanks to all veterans who served our nation, including Papa and Uncle Tim. Papa was stationed in Alaska during the Korean War. We visited the little house in Biloxi where he and Bam lived before he got deployed. It’s still there today! Uncle Tim attended VMI and served in the Army Reserves for 25 years. He loves military history and is a huge Civil War buff.

Since a migraine conspired to keep me home Saturday and Sunday, I got busy on Etsy projects. I finished all of the felted bags that Mom had gotten me months ago: three large, one medium and two small clutches. The small and medium clutches have removable brooches, just in case you want to wear it on a scarf or lapel. One of the large clutches has a great silver chain attached–perfect to carry as a shoulder bag. I used Kaffe Fassett ribbon on the red and orange clutch…so cute! Check ’em out on Etsy! I also made Bam some new eyeglass holders. The rubber loops are hard to find–Michael’s doesn’t carry them. I’ll have to order more online from a bead store. I prefer the clear ones, but all I had left was the black rubber ones. Making these is so easy…it only takes 3-4 vials of beads. I usually add some accent beads, like funky rings, crystal cubes or felted balls. You don’t want to use anything too heavy.

Not a bad way to spend a weekend indoors!
