Santa’s Frantic Little Elf

Yes, I turn into quite the frantic elf after Thanksgiving, when it suddenly occurs to me that I have less than a month to crank out all my gifts. My shipment of coin purse frames with big colorful gumball clasps just arrived today…sound the starting line gunshot and ensuing sewing madness. They are delightful! Pink, orange, lime green, sky blue, fuchsia…all fun colors soon to be matched with adorable fabrics. The gumballs look like the hair do-lollies my mom used to put my hair in pigtails (and rip out equally large bundles of hair when I tried to tear them out). I’ll post photos of the finished coin purses soon. Bam made one last week for me that is precious, with a delicate watercolor printed bird and floral pattern.

I did manage to complete this baby quilt for a good friend’s first bundle of joy. Truth time…it was a cheater quilt. I’ve posted a pick of the quilt top before. The main panel isn’t really lots of pieced hexagons. It’s just one large panel with border fabric added around it. I loved the fabric and the colors though! Party Dress is the name of the collection. I embroidered a tag for it on my Viking and plan to ship it out tomorrow. Big yay!

I also managed to work on some placemats for my own kitchen table. The entire set of four together is to-die-for-cute! I’m fairly certain that the collection is by Michael Miller, but I have no clue about the collection name. It might be from last season or older; it was in my stash for at least a year waiting for me to make up my mind about doing something with it. The backs of all four are the same red and pink snowflake circles. Did I mention that they are reversible? Another Yay!

Well, I’m headed back to the sewing cave. Don’t be alarmed if you get run over by me at Michael’s, Hancock’s, or Little Quilts…I’m not a reindeer gone awry. Just a really tired, cranky elf…until I see the joy those creations bring.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!
